In 1982, Bob Pittman the co-founder of MTV was quoted as saying, "At MTV, we don't shoot for 14 year olds, we own them." Do you think the standards have changed much in the last 20 years? To me, these are fighting words. No one owns my son but the Lord Jesus Christ.
The fact is, we are at war for the next generation, and I've got a few fighting words myself.
Ephesians 6:13-17 says
"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God."
Christ has left us with everything we need to defeat the enemy's tactics and to bring glory to Him. Thank God our kids have a savior! Thank God that He has given us the tools to fight for our childrens' purity, honor, humility, selflessness, and everything else that our MTV culture works so hard to belittle and diminish. So no matter what outlet Satan chooses to use, we can stand firm in the faith and remember our fighting words.
